Attorney
A native Utahn, Judy Imlay brings a broad and sophisticated legal background to her family law practice, coupled with a genuine commitment to helping individuals and families navigate significant transitions with clarity and confidence. Judy began her legal career practicing in family law, child protection, and criminal defense in both district and juvenile courts. She has represented clients in a wide range of matters, including divorce, child support modifications, adoptions, guardianships, and proceedings involving the Utah Division of Child and Family Services.
Her practice has also included real estate, foreclosure, and title matters, providing her with additional experience in the careful analysis and resolution of complex legal and property issues. Before returning to private practice, Judy practiced in the area of environmental law and permitting, where she worked with federal, state, and local agencies on transportation and infrastructure projects. Her work required balancing the needs of growing communities with the preservation of important environmental resources. Through this experience, Judy developed a particular appreciation for collaborative problem-solving and learned that the most effective solutions to complex issues often come from understanding different perspectives and finding practical common ground.
Judy brings this same thoughtful and collaborative approach to her family law practice. She believes that effective advocacy begins with understanding not only the legal issues involved, but also the circumstances, priorities, and concerns that are unique to each client. She understands that legal disputes involving families can be among the most difficult experiences a person faces, and she is committed to providing knowledgeable, compassionate, and practical legal guidance throughout the process. Her goal is to help clients navigate challenging circumstances with greater clarity and confidence while working toward solutions that protect their interests and support their families’ futures. Judy earned her Juris Doctor from the J. Reuben Clark Law School at Brigham Young University in 1994.
